New Schools Welcome Students
It's official, Barrington Middle School and Dick Stowers Elementary are open for business. With the first day of school behind them, each school is looking forward to a successful year. The principal of Barrington, Maribeth Franklin, revealed her one-year goal for the school, "We want to be an A+ school where students and parents feel that we provide them with an excellent educational experience in a safe and nurturing environment." In addition to long term goals, Franklin has short-term goals to integrate her students who come from a variety of feeder schools, "I really feel that creating a Barrington spirit among students and parents will be my first challenge. I want to make sure everyone is pleased with the educational opportunities."
She already has been impressed with the amount of parental support offered even before the school year has begun. Franklin wants parents to become involved in their students education, "Educating students is always a team effort. We encourage parents to review and discuss classroom assignments written in the agenda planner nightly, to find out what their child learned in school."
In the end, Franklin hopes to instill in all of her students the mindset that, "anything is possible if they put their mind to it." As the staff and faculty begin the inaugural school year as the Barrington Bolts, Franklin stated, "We're looking forward to an 'electrifying' year."
